Pooja a third year nursing student of Old Philadelphia Mission Hospital, Ambala City, Haryana – 134 002 has sent a SOS message that she will commit suicide as she has been pressurized by the college administration that she will be kicked out of the college. The reason being she took the courage on behalf of her many batch mates to complain to Real News of India against the college administration. She was in fact pressurized to write a withdrawal letter stating that she will leave the college on her own free will.
The nursing students for some time had been facing problems with poor food quality, the pathetic living condition of the hostel, abuses from the staff members and irregular monetary fines by the college. Large amount of cash, as fine to the tune of Rs 2,00,000, Rs 80,000 and Rs 40,000 were charged for minor reasons.
Real News of India contacted the Director of the nursing college, Mr Sunil Kumar Sadiq who was reluctant to talk to us and on our insistence we sent him a letter of the complaints lodged by the students. We opted not to make news assuming that it is a normal complaint by students and that the matter would be solved with the college administration and students.
Real News of India received no reply from the Director. The administration came to know of the student who had complained against the college. Since then she has been made a target and has been constantly being harassed by the administration. In a recent incident Pooja was unable to attend a particular class, she had informed the concerned teacher but later was called by the college principal. The Principal threw her top on the student and in the heated argument the Principal threatened to take Pooja out of the college or else the Principal would leave the college. While writing this news Real News has received a number of panicky calls by the students of any untoward incident that might occur. Real News editorial staff have been pacifying the student to cool down and have requested her friends to counsel her with continuous watch of Pooja’s movements.
Looking at the seriousness of the situation Real News has handed over the case to a local NGO Band Foundation which helps distress people for legal aid. Mr Feroz A. Shaikh Founder of Band Foundation will help the student in all legal matters relating to the case.
