The accident took place at around 7:30 am near the Ganga Canal police outpost under the Muradnagar police station limits. The truck was travelling with the jawans from Meerut Cantonment towards Delhi when it fell into the canal. The vehicle is yet to be fished out of the water.
Police said the truck suddenly lost control while crossing the canal and rammed into a barricade on the side of the road thereby breaking it to fall into the water
According to police, the jawans on the truck belonged to different units of the army and have sustained minor injuries only.
“No casualties have taken place in the accident. All six jawans on the vehicle were safely rescued from the waters. Two cranes have been summoned to pull the vehicle out of the canal,” Muradnagar circle officer DSP Abhishek Singh told TOI.
