New Delhi, Jan 6: Days after he landed into controversy with his statement that his wife, Kiran Rao was mulling to leave the country with their child due to increasing atmosphere of intolerance, the tourism ministry has reportedly removed actor Aamir Khan as brand ambassador of Incredible India.
Aamir Khan triggered a massive controversy when he said, ‘Kiran and I have lived all our lives in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India?’
‘That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make to me. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is a sense of growing disquiet,’ he added.
Several BJP leaders slammed the Bollywood superstar for his comments which led to massive protests against him.
However, Aamir later clarified his statement saying, ‘Neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country. We never did, and nor would we like to in the future.’
