Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzled the red carpet at Festival De Cannes wearing a studded champagne coloured couture gown by Kuwait’s designer Ali Younes.

The 42-year-old actress, who made her debut at Cannes in 2002, is celebrating 15 years of representing India and L’Oreal at the French Riviera.

The beauty queen made her opening appearance of 2016 as she arrived for the screening of the film “Ma loute” (Slack Bay) at the 69th Cannes Film Festival.

Aishwarya experimented with a metallic sheath overlaid by a sparkly floor-length cape. She added a dash of oomph to her look with a bright turquoise blue liner, complementing with blue eyeshadow and bold lashes. She styled her hair in loose waves.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says lyrics in Hindi movie tracks are in sync with the audience’s taste.

The “Baby” actor, who has featured in songs like “Samose Mein Aaloo” to “Hookah Bar”, launched a new track “Taang Uthake” from his upcoming film “Housefull 3” last night here.

When asked about the amount of improvement in lyrics from retro songs like “Paon chhoo lene do phoolon ko inayat hogi” to “Taang uthake”, Akshay said, “As much improvement is there in audience’s taste, it is in lyrics. Whatever people like, we make it.”

Singer Mika Singh, who has lent his voice to the track said, “This has been happening since before, (like) ‘Choli ke peechey kya hai’. So this is not new.”

“And (what about) that song, ‘Aadmi hu aadmi se pyaar karta hu’..,” Akshay said.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala said, “‘Paon chhoo lene do’ was from a Nadiadwala film. So it was from our house only.”

He was referring to the song from the 1963 film “Taj Mahal”.

Directed by Sajid-Farhad, “Housefull 3” also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri among others.

The director duo said they don’t have any “nervousness” but rather “excitement” to see how the film is received by the audience.

The movie is scheduled to release on June 3.

He is part of the film industry for over 45 years, but megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he still gets to learn so much from young and talented actors like Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Bachchan, who has worked with the “Kahaani” actress in “Paa”, will be seen with her yet again in the drama-thriller “Te3n”, which also stars Nawazuddin.

“It’s always a joy to work with Vidya, and I was equally delighted to work with Nawaz whom I’ve always admired.

He is a phenomenal talent,” Bachchan told reporters here.

“Truly, we get to learn so much from artists like Vidya and Nawaz because they are this generation, and I am in great admiration and awe of all the artists in the younger generation,” he said.

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, “Te3n” is set in Kolkata and is about a crime that affects its three main characters.

Bachchan, 73, stars in the film as John Biswas, a grandfather in pursuit of justice for eight years, while Siddiqui plays Father Martin Das, whose life was changed with the same crime that claimed the life of John’s granddaughter.

Vidya, 38, will be seen in a special appearance as the cop who swings into action when an identical crime is repeated eight years later.

The “Piku” star said he observes the young actors very closely because they bring certain freshness, which he hasn’t seen in his career.

“They bring to the table something that we are not used to, that we haven’t seen through the 40 years I’ve been in cinema. I watch them very carefully, and when I work with them I admire the way they approach the project, the scene, and I have just great admiration for my two co-artists in the film,” he said.

Filmmmaker Sujoy Ghosh is associated with “Te3n” as a creative producer, and Bachchan said the “Kahaani” helmer had come up with another idea to him.

“He had actually come with another idea before. We were almost set to do. It was a film about Kerala and we had decided on the story and decided to go ahead, schedule our dates. One day they said they had another idea. It took me just a couple of seconds to say let’s do this, and not the other one at the moment,” he said.

“Bajrangi Bhaijaan” director Kabir Khan faced an ugly situation at the airport here on Wednesday when some protesters accosted him for showing Pakistan in bad light in his last film “Phantom”.

The director, 43, was in Karachi to attend a marketing seminar.

The incident took place when Kabir stepped out of his car at the Quaid-e-Azam international airport as he had to take a flight for Lahore.

The director was also confronted by a shoe-wielding protester in black shalwar kameez.

The angry protesters shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and anti-India slogans while confronting the director as he walked into the departure lounge.

They also asked Kabir why he did not make films about Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) activities in Pakistan.

Kabir did not react and proceeded towards the lounge.

Ironically, Kabir’s other film “Bhajrangi Bhaijaan” did roaring business in Pakistan last year and was lauded by everyone for promoting Indo-Pak ties.

“Phantom”, starring Saif Ali Khan-Katrina Kaif, about a retired army officer who leads a mission to seek out and kill the terror masterminds including Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, five years after the Mumbai terror attacks, was banned in Pakistan last year.

The director had defended his film during the seminar, insisting people misunderstood its purpose as he highlighted the role of bad elements in both countries.

Kabir later tweeted, “To media on both sides: 12 screaming lunatics with a mobile phone camera is not news. Please don’t give them the attention they want. Ignore.PTI

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan today said all information regarding the Panama Paper leaks, in which her name figures, were being given to the government.

The actress’s name had figured in the recent Panama Paper leaks for allegedly having links with offshore entities.

“A statement has been issued and that stands true. A statement has already been given individually as well as by the members of the family. A statement has already been given to the media.

“And rest, all the queries that need to be answered to the government of India is being done. Thank you,” Aishwarya told reporters here at an event, when asked about the Panama Paper leak.

The reported secret list, called ‘Panama Papers’, contains names of about 500 prominent Indians including megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya besides politicians and businessmen.

The Panama Papers are a leaked set of 11.5 million confidential documents that provide detailed information about more than 214,000 offshore companies listed by the Panamanian corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca, including the identities of shareholders and directors of the companies.

Earlier, Bachchan had issued a statement saying that his name was “misused” and he was not aware of any of the companies mentioned in the report.

Aishwarya’s spokesperson had also called the information about her name cropping up in the list as “totally untrue and false.PTI..

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has thanked his admirers for the overwhelming response his recently released thriller “Fan” has been receiving.

In a video post on Twitter, the 50-year-old actor said the Maneesh Sharma-directed film was special to him.

“On behalf of Aryan Khanna, Gaurav, Maneesh, Adi and everyone, who has made ‘Fan’, thank you for the overwhelming response.

“We are extremely thankful that you liked it so much because it’s a very different film. We never expected it to be embraced so lovingly and so universally. Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has won the ‘Global Indian of the Year’ award.

Aishwarya was honoured at NRI of the Year award function held here last evening.

The actress, 42, dedicated the award to her daughter Aaradhya.

“I was very passionate about making it more than a perceived beauty pageant. For me, I all along believed that it was the opportunity to represent an Indian woman on the international platform. I believe that from then until today, in 2016, it continues,” Aishwarya said in a statement here.

“I am glad to have been chosen to be a feature film artist and a career woman. I have had so many opportunities, personally, professionally, socially,” she said.

The “Dhoom 2” actress will be seen next in “Sarabjit” alongside Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha

Besides Aishwarya, noted tennis player Sania Mirza was also honoured at the NRI of the Year Award 2016.

Altogether 17 individuals were given the awards under different categories like entrepreneur, professional, academics, arts & culture, philanthropy, special jury award, global icon of the year and India’s global icon award.
