The actress was quoted as saying, “This is the first time that I am playing twins – one is nerdy, while the other is sexy. I found that to be a great idea as India sees me more as Laila, but I’m actually nerdy – like Lily is – in real life. Maybe that’s why Lily is closer to my heart because I got to act out a character who’s closer to my personality. It is challenging playing two roles in a film but I enjoyed it very much. I believe that is because of Milap (Zaveri) and Rangita (Nandy) my producer.

26 Oct) After being roped in for playing a character of a Prince in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, Hrithik Roshan may be seen as playing one of the most iconic characters of Johnny Depp ‘ Captain Jack Sparrow’ in his next, titled as Thug. A source informs DNA, “YRF is working on two action dramas- Thug and Dhoom 4, both directed by Victor. The story of Thug is kept under wraps as Hrithik begins shooting for it from January next year. It’s a fantasy film, set against a fictional historical setting, and revolves around the adventures of a dashing pirate captain (Hrithik) and his crew.” “Hrithik’s character is something like Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and what he plays in the Pirates Of The Caribbean (POTC) series. Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are popular superstars in Pakistan. Back in India, Fawad is already a rage with his first Bollywood film Khoobsurat opposite Sonam Kapoor cementing his position in the industry. On the other hand, Mahira is all set to make her grand Bolly debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia’s anticipated film Raees next year. But there’s one big hurdle for the two Pakistani actors. Shiv Sena claims they won’t allow any Pakistani cricketer or actor put foot on Maharashtrian soil.

Shiv Sena had previously fought a similar battle with Shah Rukh Khan. In the 2010 IPL auction, none of the franchises picked up any Pakistani players. This led Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to comment: “I think it’s actually humiliating to me as a KKR owner that this has happened. We are known to be good, we are known to invite everyone, and we should have. And if there were any issues, they should have been put out earlier so that everything could happen respectfully.”

This led to massive protests across the state as they attacked theatres which were screening SRK’s My Name is Khan. The erstwhile Maharashtra government – Congress-NCP – deployed 21,000 police officers to guard over 63 cinemas screening the film.

Quite unlike other Bollywood actors, SRK refused to bow down and apologise. “I request everybody to leave the film alone and deal with what I have said as an individual. I have no idea what I am supposed to apologise for. If I am in wrong I would like to apologise but someone needs to explain to me what is wrong,” he told reporters in London.

After Shiv Sena’s protest at BCCI office, Kasuri book release function and Ghulam Ali concerts, films starring Pakistan artistes have become latest target of the political outfit. In the last few weeks, Sena has hit national headlines with its protest against Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali’s concerts in Pune and Mumbai (which were consequently cancelled), ink attack on former BJP ideologue Sudheendra Kulkarni and opposition to release of former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri’s book, as well as protest at BCCI office over the planned visit by Pakistan Cricket Board chief.

Chitrapat Sena general secretary Akshay Bardapurkar told a leading website, “We are not really bothered about who is signing these Pakistanis in their film. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Shah Rukh Khan etc. are responsible citizens and they should not cast Pakistanis in their film.”

Fawad has already wrapped shooting for KJo’s Kapoor & Sons which will release early next year. He is currently filming for another Dharma film- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil where he’s paired with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Mahira on the other hand will be shooting with SRK for Raees, which releases next year Eid. But given that Shiv Sena has already started protesting against Pakistani actors and actresses, will Fawad and Mahira’s Bollywood projects suffer the brunt of it?

Eros International’s ‘Aligarh’, the latest film from National award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta, has been selected as the opening film at the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on October 30th 2015. This pivotal film marks the first time that a Hindi film will open the festival since 1997, the inaugural year of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh from which the film takes its name, ‘Aligarh’ is the story of a professor (Manoj Bajpayee) fired for his sexuality and a young journalist (Rajkummar Rao) who tells his story to the world. Based on true events, the film follows Dr. S R Siras, a professor at the Aligarh Muslim University who, when discovered to be homosexual, was fired from his position. The film depicts the unlikely friendship between Dr. Siras and a reporter investigating his first big story, a relationship that will change them both forever.
Aligarh has been selected to screen at the 20th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and the 59th BFI London Film Festival, this October. This will mark the first time in almost two decades that a Hindi film will open the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

This is a befitting reward for a team that has worked selflessly to make a film they are passionate about. Hansal Mehta’s illustrious career began in television, where he directed the cooking show Khana Khazana (1993–2000) starring Sanjeev Kapoor. Mehta made his feature film debut with Jayate (1999), which screened at the International Film Festival of India in Hyderabad as part of the Indian Panorama (1999-2000). He followed up his debut with the cult hit Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar in 2000, and spent the next decade making feature length and short films. He is best known for his moving biopic Shahid in 2013. The film, starring Rajkummar Rao, chronicles the life of Shahid Azmi, a human rights lawyer murdered in 2010. Mehta and Rao continued to collaborate in Mehta’s next film, City Lights, an adaptation of Metro Manila, a British independent film.
The 17th Jio MAMI’s Mumbai Film Festival will be held in Mumbai from October 29th to November 5th 2015. ABOUT JIO MAMI
Mumbai – the financial capital of India is also the epicentre of the Indian film industry. In 1997, a group of film industry stalwarts headed by late Hrishikesh Mukherjee founded the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) as a not-for-profit Trust. Navaratri the well known festival of Goddess Durga is celebrated for nine days. Among them to bring the night life alive is the Dandiya dance. The streets and local clubs have organized their own programs depending on the status of the society. It is indeed very lively these seven days and encouraging to see the youth fully engrossed to the festival. In spite of digital India on the rise the culture remains intact in Mumbai. It is a big lesson to the smaller cities where the influence of westernization has crossed all limits.

However security has been beefed up and the sound levels controlled. The time limit in most of the localities is 11 pm.

Bigg Boss had a grand premiere on Sunday night and the 14 contestants have now been segregated into seven pairs for the show. The pairs are as follows -Roopal Tyagi and Digyangana Suryavanshi, Kishwer Merchant and Aman Verma, Suyyash Rai and Rimi Sen, Vikas Bhalla and Yuvika Choudhary, Rochelle Rao and Prince Narula, Mandana Karimi and Keith Sequeira, Arvind Vegda and Ankit Gera. And it’s time for Double Trouble to hit the house.

Bigg Boss ka googly!

It is day one for the contestants inside the Bigg Boss house and double trouble has already begun simmering on low flame! While everyone is tired and waiting to get into their comfortable clothes before going off to sleep, Bigg Boss throws the very first googly at the contestants. It is announced that each contestant pair will be able to receive luggage of any one member while the other will have to compromise. They are asked to mutually decide and give names of the contestants whose bags they want to keep.

One suffers!

As a result of the twist, most men in the house end up sacrificing their bags to save the damsels in utter distress! The rest of the bags are shredded in front of the contestant leaving everyone astonished and shattered. While Roopal and Kishwer break down, others try to console themselves and get over this shock.

Connection mat todna!

Reiterating the fact that the paired contestants cannot break their “connection”, the inmates of the house are woken up to the song “Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge”.

Bechara Prince!

The contestants are seen discussing about everyone’s behaviour inside house and anticipating how their stay is going to pan out further. Aman and Kishwer are seen discussing how Prince looked bored out of his skull sitting by as Rochelle and Keith spend time together.

Work Divided!

The housemates are pleasantly surprised when they receive the ration for the week and get excited to cook. While the men of the house take lead in the kitchen, women are seen taking a back seat as none of them are good at culinary skills. Being aware that the difficulty level of the game is going to only get double, the contestants dutifully divide household chores amongst the jodis. While Aman takes up the mantle of cooking breakfast along with Yuvika, Prince is seen preparing lunch.

The Bigg Bomb!

Later in the day, Bigg Boss drops the Bigg Bomb of nominations that has to be done in pairs. Some contestants are seen struggling to arrive at a consensus while others take a quick call.

Door door se hi dekho!

Ex- flames Ankit and Roopal are seen maintaining a distance from each other. Roopal is heard saying that Ankit is acting fake and behaving very different from the way he actually does outside the house! She also goes on to say that she is finding it weird as they broke up a long time back and have even worked with each other after that.

Rochelle upset with Keith?

On the flipside, lovebirds Rochelle and Keith are seen having a quick tete-a-tete where Rochelle informs Keith that he is on camera and has to be careful cautious of his behaviour and equation with his partner Mandana.

Snoring Alert!

When Bigg Boss decides to call it a day and the inmates hit the sack, they are woken up by Arvind’s loud snores. They find it difficult to sleep after being woken up from deep sleep and decide to wake up Arvind to lessen the effect. Realising that his snores are causing a problem for the rest of the house, Arvind tries hard to control it while others have a sound sleep.
