At least 107 people were killed when a crane toppled over at Mecca’s Grand Mosque on Friday, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence authority said, less than two weeks before Islam’s annual hajj pilgrimage. At least 238 people were wounded, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence body said.
“All those who were wounded and the dead have been taken to hospital. There are no casualties left at the location,” General Suleiman al-Amr, director general of the Civil Defence Authority, told al-Ikhbariya television. Strong wind and rains had uprooted trees and rocked cranes in the area, he said.
Leander Paes created history by winning the U.S. Open mixed doubles title with Swiss partner Martina Hingis and surpassed compatriot and former partner Mahesh Bhupathi’s record.
The 42-year-old Paes now has won nine Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, against Bhupathi’s eight.
The fourth seeded India-Swiss pair, edged past unseeded Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey 6-4 3-6 10-7 in a tricky final to win their third Major title together this season.
Paes is now only behind legendary Martina Navratilova, who won 10 mixed doubles trophies. Of those 10, two came with Paes, when they won Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2003.
With this win, Paes and Hingis, who also won Australian Open and Wimbledon titles early this season, have become the first mixed doubles team since 1969 to win three Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in the same year.
It was Paes’ 17th Grand Slam title overall and Hingis’ 19th. Hingis has won four Grand Slam titles and all of them have come with Indians. She won her first mixed doubles trophy with Bhupathi when they won 2006 Australian Open.
Hingis is also in the contention in the Women’s Doubles with Sania Mirza with whom she won the Wimbledon this year. They are up against Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan and Casey Dellacqua of Australia.
Paes and Hingis broke Mattek-Sands at love to take a 2-1 lead in the opening set as the Swiss miss hit a forehand passing shot to secure the break. That bit of momentum was all they needed, as Paes easily closed the set out at 5-4 when Hingis hit a volley winner.
A lone break of serve also decided the second set, as Mattek-Sands hit two straight winners to break Hingis’ serve as the Americans led 3-1. Hingis saved three set points on her serve at 2-5, but Querrey easily held in the next game to send the contest into a deciding super tiebreak.
The unseeded Americans were cruising as they created a 4-1 cushion when they won both points on Hingis’ serve to grab the first mini-break. But Hingis and Paes took the mini-break back on Mattek-Sands’ serve at the next opportunity.
The crucial point of the match came at 7-7, when Paes blocked Querrey’s serve for a clean passing-shot winner. He then won both points on his serve to close out the match, hitting an overhead winner on their first match point and then lifting Hingis in celebration.
MEA is trying its best to clip off the accused in the rape of two Nepali women along with 7 of his accomplices in this deadly inhuman act. As a senior Congress leader quoted today it is the petrol arrogance that the diplomat is trying to exhibit. This is the most perfect comment that could one make in regards to the deadly inhuman act and seeking diplomatic immunity.
]
The national as well the international media must see that this devil in the form of a diplomat does get away with his so called diplomatic immunity. He must be cornered from every part of the world to create an embarrassment for the country and its diplomat.
These kinds of inhuman activities (rape and torture) from the petrol arrogant countries have happened with many other nationals which have gone unrecorded due to the compulsions and circumstances of the victim. It would now be on the part of the media to unfold such horrific stories of the so called arrogant petrol countries.
The media has time again reported that these two women took up the job due to the deadly earthquake in Nepal. Nepali people seeking employment abroad has been going on for more than two decades. Until five years ago Nepali women were restricted to work in the Middle east but later was relaxed.
Therefore there should be immunity for the rapist. He should be brought to book.

The EU executive has announced a drive aimed at radically overhauling Europe’s dysfunctional and fragmented immigration policies.
Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European commission, urged a common regime of EU border guards, the opening of legal channels to coordinate arrivals to Europe, as well as binding and permanent systems for absorbing the influx of refugees fairly across the continent.
In a major address to the European parliament in Strasbourg, Juncker called for root-and-branch reform of disparate immigration policies in the EU. He complained that national governments were failing to observe agreements on asylum procedures, and warned that several countries could be sanctioned.
“I don’t want to get despondent, but Europe is not in good shape,” Juncker said, concentrating his first and lengthy ‘state of the union’ speech on the EU’s biggest postwar migration emergency.

Accusing national governments reluctant to take in refugees of historical amnesia, he listed Europe’s long record of helping refugees fleeing and persecution, from the Huguenots in 17th-century France to the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s, to emphasise that the Geneva conventions established in 1951 to regulate refugee treatment were aimed at helping Europeans crushed in the fallout of the second world war.
“Today it is Europe that is sought as a place of refuge and exile. It is Europe today that represents a beacon of hope, a haven of stability in the eyes of women and men in the Middle East and in Africa. That is something to be proud of and not something to fear.”
Juncker confirmed that Brussels was asking national governments to agree to distribute 160,000 refugees currently in Italy, Greece and Hungary. This had to be on a binding and not a voluntary basis. “It has to be done and it will be done,” he said.
Refugee crisis: what can you do to help?

Additionally, he proposed a permanent new system of sharing refugees in case of crisis. He also called for the creation of a European force of border and coastguards to patrol and police the external frontiers of the passport-free Schengen travel zone embracing 26 countries.
Juncker announced that the commission was drafting policies on how to open up legal channels to allow people seeking to get to Europe by highly hazardous routes to do so much more safely. “We have the means to help those fleeing from war, terror and oppression,” he said. “Migration must change from a problem to be tackled to a well managed resource.”
The blueprint unveiled by Juncker sets the scene for a potentially ugly confrontation on Monday in Brussels, when interior ministers from the 28 countries meet to discuss the compulsory refugee quotas demanded by the EU and supported strongly by Germany, France and Italy but vehemently rejected by the younger EU members of central Europe. They remain intensely reluctant to bow to a system of imposed quotas.

Juncker pointedly remarked that today’s wave of immigration from the Middle East and Africa could be tomorrow’s influx from a war-ravaged Ukraine, the message being that the eastern Europeans on the frontline would then demand help from western Europe.
The east Europeans responded robustly to Juncker’s demands. The Slovak prime minister, Robert Fico, dismissed the quotas as a non-starter. “We won’t bow down to Germany and France,” he said. “Quotas are irrational.”
The Czech Republic’s Europe minister, Tomas Prouza, described the quotas idea as “nonsensical.”
Beata Szydlo, on Poland’s nationalist right and tipped to become prime minister following elections next month, complained that Warsaw was under pressure from Brussels to accede to a new quotas system. “The Polish government should definitely not yield to this pressure,” she said.
In Berlin, Angela Merkel offered vocal support for Juncker, arguing that the commission proposals did not go far enough. “Generally we need a binding agreement on a binding distribution of refugees between all member states based on fair criteria,” the German chancellor told the Bundestag.
Juncker’s figure of 160,000 was only a first step, she added. Receiving refugees was a European responsibility, but there was no point in putting a ceiling on the numbers to be shared.
Germany and others receiving the lion’s share of refugees are warning that national border controls within the Schengen area could be re-established if countries continue to veto equitable sharing of the new arrivals.
Juncker stressed that the Schengen zone would not be sacrificed while he remained in charge of the commission. Speaking of “common” and “united” refugee and asylum policies, he said they had to “be permanently anchored in our policy approach and our rules”.
“We will propose ambitious steps towards a European border and coastguard before the end of the year,” he said. “The commission will come forward with a well-designed legal migration package in early 2016.”
The proposed overhaul aimed at establishing a new uniform EU asylum and refugee regime, which will be extremely difficult to achieve given national sensitivities and the prominence of immigration issues in national politics across Europe, is unlikely to affect Britain.
The UK is not part of the Schengen zone and will be unaffected by a common European border guard system. It also enjoys special status allowing it to choose whether to take part in common asylum policies and has already declared it will have no part of any refugee-sharing quotas system.
However a cross-party group of 14 British MEPs have written a letter to David Cameron urging him to listen to the views of European experts on the issue of relocation and to take part in Juncker’s proposed scheme.
The Liberal Democrats’ only MEP, Catherine Bearder, said the UK’s European partners were exasperated by the UK prime minister’s “stubborn refusal to take part in a collective European response to this crisis”.
“By refusing to take a single refugee that has arrived on Europe’s shores, the UK government is shirking our international duty and lowering Britain’s standing in the world,” she said. “Of course we must do more to tackle the causes of the refugee crisis at source, but we cannot turn a blind eye to the human tragedy unfolding right now on our continent.”
Glenis Willmott MEP, Labour’s leader in the European parliament, said: “The prime minister should be leading efforts for a common EU plan for relocation and resettlement of refugees – not acting in isolation, weeks after Germany and other countries have taken the lead.”

A spokeswoman for Cameron said Juncker’s speech covered “the importance of a fair deal for Britain”.
“The point I’d make is that the UK is already playing its part and – in terms of a financial contribution to tackling the refugee crisis from Syria – we are the leading donor nation on that,” she said.
“In terms of any relocation, we have already been clear on our position, which is that we are not bound by it and we are going to focus our efforts on resettlement.”
The biggest speech of Juncker’s 10 months as head of the commission came close on the heels of family bereavement. His mother died last Sunday, since when his father has been taken into hospital.
In a plea for European generosity towards the 500,000 he said had entered the EU this year, Juncker said: “Europe is the baker in Kos who gives away his bread to hungry and weary souls. Europe is the students in Munich and in Passau who bring clothes for the new arrivals at the train station. Europe is the policeman in Austria who welcomes exhausted refugees upon crossing the border. This is the Europe I want to live in.”
Nicki Minaj’s “Miley, what’s good?” moment at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards has become a club remix.
That’s right, while accepting her award for Best Hip-Hop Video at the show, Minaj decided to take the time to address an issue she had with Miley Cyrus, who was also the host.
In her speech she said, “You know who I want to thank tonight? My pastor. I love you so much. And now, back to this b***h that had a lot to say about me in the press. Miley, what’s good?”
A remix of Minaj’s now famous line “Miley, what’s good?”, has become a club remix thanks to Producer Gared A, who posted it on Soundclound. Since its release the remix has made its way all over social media. It has been reported the Jersey Club Remix was also inspired from Minaj’s ‘Only One’ beat.
According to reports, it all began when Cyrus stated in an interview that Minaj’s comments about the show’s nomination process were not polite.
Too bad Minaj’s feud with Taylor Swift didn’t churn out any fine tunes.

Gurgaon rape case: The vicitms claimed that the Saudi diplomat also took them to other places, including Nainital and Agra, where they were introduced to other ‘guests’ and subjected to further sexual assault.
Last four months were a curse for us. It was so ugly…we thought we were going to die in that house and our families would never even find our bodies,” said the 20-year-old woman from Nepal, who had been sexually abused for months.
The woman and her 44-year-old mother were rescued from the Gurgaon residence of a diplomat from Saudi Arabia on Monday night. Hired as domestic help, they were allegedly held hostage at the house and sexually abused every day for the last four months by the diplomat and his ‘guests’.
“There were days when seven to eight men — all from Saudi Arabia — would assault us. If we resisted, the diplomat and his family would threaten to kill us and dispose of our bodies in the sewer,” said the older woman. She claimed that on one occasion, the diplomat had even slashed her on the arm with a knife.
On some days, they would be given no food at all, she said. But they were allowed to bathe, right before they had to meet the diplomat’s ‘guests’, who would rape and sodomise them, said the women.
The diplomat’s wife made no attempt to help them; instead, she beat them up, alleged the women. “We were made to do all the household chores, from morning till late in the night, and then subjected to sexual assault at the end of the day. We were not given food. Sometimes we only survived on biscuits, bread and watery tea. We were never allowed to step out of the house,” said the women.
They claimed that the diplomat also took them to other places, including Nainital and Agra, where they were introduced to other ‘guests’ and subjected to further sexual assault.
“Right after we were employed, our employer took us to Saudi Arabia for 15 days. There, he did not touch us or misbehave with us. After we returned in May, he asked us to massage him… he then raped us and forced us to have unnatural sex and oral sex. After that he offered us to his friends regularly,” they stated in their police complaint.

The women were finally rescued with the help of NGO Maiti Nepal India, which was informed about their plight by another woman who had been employed as a domestic help at the diplomat’s residence but ran away within three days.
NGO members then enlisted the help of someone who had access to the women and managed to pass on a mobile phone to them. “They were in constant touch with us for the last five days. They would narrate their ordeal on the phone and we assured them that they will be rescued soon,” said Bal Krishna Pandey, convener of NGO Maiti Nepal India.
The NGO then informed the Nepal Embassy, which wrote to the Ministry of External Affairs and Gurgaon police. A police team raided the diplomat’s residence on Monday night and rescued the two women.
Maiti Nepal India has also made arrangements to take the women back to their home — in Nepal’s Morang district — on Wednesday.
Who was the anonymous caller who set the ball rolling in the Sheena Bora murder case? As speculation continues around the all-important question that led to the unravelling of the conspiracy, dna has learnt that the caller who tipped off the Mumbai Police is the Meerut-based husband of one of Sheena’s closest friends.
The man works with one of the armed forces and is currently posted in Meerut, friends close to Sheena have disclosed, refuting the many theories doing the rounds, including one that the call came from a socialite friend of Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
It was to attend this couple’s wedding that Sheena had last visited Guwahati in November 2011. Sheena and this friend had been together since childhood and also went to the same school. Mikhail, who drove his sister to the airport after the visit, says that was the last time he saw Sheena. This is backed up by her other friends in Guwahati too – that they saw her last at the wedding.
However, the close friend and her husband met her last in Mumbai when they went to visit her and even stayed with Sheena. There are many questions, of course. How did the caller know about the details of the murder? And if the person knew, why was he quiet for so long?
According to Sheena’s friends, the couple was alarmed when she stopped communicating suddenly. The couple even went to Indrani later to find out Sheena’s whereabouts. Indrani had reportedly threatened them, after which they left. They also spoke to Rahul Mukerjea, who did not actively pursue the case after Indrani told the cops that he was stalking Sheena.
“They kept quiet for good measure. But then, suddenly, as a last resort they went to the police. The husband called the police and narrated what they knew, and I can tell you with confidence that they were privy to a lot of Sheena’s personal ongoings,” explained a close friend of Sheena who now resides in Mumbai. He says the friend chooses to remain anonymous, because her husband is in one of the wings of the armed forces and has been asked by his office not to be seen in the media.
The Mumbai-based friend of Sheena, who met her several times while she was in college in Mumbai, says that after Indrani brought her to Mumbai for higher studies, Sheena seemed happy initially. “Her mother gave her a very comfortable life; a car was always at her disposal, and she would often meet Bollywood stars,” he says. “But when she became financially independent, Sheena realised that she needed legitimacy and not the money.
Perhaps, that is the reason she is no more.”
Mumbai, Sep 10: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party in protest to the temporary meat ban of four days in Mumbai sold chicken in Agar Bazar in Dadar, Mumbai on September 10. Meat has been banned in Mumbai on September 10, 13, 17 and 18 to respect the Jain community who is celebrating Paryushan for ten days. (READ: MNS to protest against temporary meat ban in Mumbai by selling mutton)
Consumption of meat, eggs, sea food or roots are against the religious sentiment of Jain community. Political parties condemned the ban which favours a particular community in a secular nation. Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe talking about the ban said, “The Mayor of BJP-ruled Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (in Maharashtra’s Thane District) is trying to use a section of society for political reasons.”
In a democratic country like India where every religion have their preferences imposing ban on the other is very undemocratic.
