Nearly 400 dabbawalas are working round the clock to pull off this non-profit initiative. Although it’s been just over 10 days, the response has been overwhelming.
“We got around 100 phone calls in a span of days, but we have a limitation, we have to do our work first and this work later. We want to distribute more food to the poor as far as possible,” said Subhash Talekar, a spokesperson of the Dabbawala Union.
The Dabbawalas are now mulling over ways to schedule a pick up even when the quantity of food is less. They are planning to station one member from the union at local stations at all times where people can drop by and hand-over the leftovers.

Regarding the ‘Global300’ cities, Puri said: “The cities that make up the ‘Global300’ are the world’s most powerful, productive and connected. Their 1.3 billion citizens account for nearly 40% of global economic activity, more than Europe and North America combined.”

“The three notorious smugglers had with them foreign made weapons including a Pakistani double-magazine automatic stengun and Pakistani mobile sim card,” he said.They have been identified as Gurjant Singh alias Bholu (26) and Sandip Singh (25), both residents of village Havelian, about 15 km from Chandigarh, and Jatinder Singh alias Jindi (34), he said.The three were arrested following a scuffle between them and a police team in which the gangsters had also opened fire at the cops, he said.The SSP said that police have recovered one stengun of .9 mm, two pistols (.9mm), two pistols .30 bore, one airgun, 190 live cartridges, 31 mobile phones, one Pakistani mobile sim card and one car from them.”The miscreants are close acquaintances of Jaipal, who is wanted in a number of robbery, dacoity and smuggling cases”, said Bhullar.He said that apart from smuggling heroin from across the border, the gangsters were also conspiring to kidnap children of rich people for ransom.

A vole that became the object of a mid-air fight between two massive birds of prey escaped from their grasp – only to fall to the ground, 100 feet below.
The rodent can be seen facing three possible deaths as an owl and a kestrel battle to snatch it from one another, eventually letting it slip towards the ground.
The owl, a large bird with a wingspan of around four feet, swooped down and caught the vole first above a golf course near Aberdeen.
As the owl flew off, a large kestrel attacked it and tried to steal the prey.
