May Allah bless you & Your dear ones for happy & prosperous life on Eid UL Azha & always from Real News of India Team
This year, it is starting from the evening of September 22 and will continue till September 23 evening. The festive day marks the end / finish / completion of the annual pilgrimage from Hajj to Mecca. It is the second of the two most celebrated festival and holidays by the Muslim community worldwide. It is observed on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah which is considered to be the last month of the Islamic calendar.
This is also known as the feast or festival of sacrifice as Eid ul-Adha is derived from the Arabic language in which Eid means festival and Adha means sacrifice. This day is observed to remember the sacrfice done by Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim).
The prophecy and mythology tells that God spared his son but replaced him with a sheep. Muslims usually sacrifice sheep, lambs, goats, rams, and other such animals since then. After sacrificing, the meat is usually divided into three parts. Family retains one, while one part is distributed among friends, relatives, neighbours and the third part is distributed among the poor and needy people.
