Consumption of meat, eggs, sea food or roots are against the religious sentiment of Jain community. Political parties condemned the ban which favours a particular community in a secular nation. Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe talking about the ban said, “The Mayor of BJP-ruled Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (in Maharashtra’s Thane District) is trying to use a section of society for political reasons.”
In a democratic country like India where every religion have their preferences imposing ban on the other is very undemocratic.
