IF Helen of Troy was the face to launch a thousand ships, Jourdan Dunn is the model to evoke immediate shopping trips and, helpfully, as well as showing us what to buy, she also has some advice as to how to buy as festive-season preparation gets in to full swing.
“Don’t shop with kids; wear comfortable shoes; and don’t leave it to the last minute,” she told us as she launched Burberry’s new Japanese flagship store. But how to deal with the hordes of shoppers that descend on shopping centres in the lead up to Christmas? “Try shopping online as much as possible,” she advised, before adding sensibly: “And, if you can, call the store to reserve.”
As an arbiter of style, Dunn always has the ability to make us want what she’s wearing, from her urban off-duty separates, to the belted Burberry trenches that she dons for the catwalk. But the influence she has still comes as something of a surprise to the Miss Vogue cover star, especially when she looks up to see herself staring back at her from billboards.
“It doesn’t matter what city I’m in, I still find myself shocked when I see my face,” she said.
